Course Curriculum and Focus

Colonial University explores the entire supply chain, beginning at the refinery and drilling down at the Colonial level to everyday operations and interaction with our customers. Our main focus at Colonial University is to answer questions and provide hands-on experience and knowledge to continually build our working relationship with you, our customers. The curriculum is based on every aspect of transportation - from nominations, ticketing, product movement/tracking, and invoicing to quality assurance.

NOMINATIONS TO DELIVERY - From the initial nomination to delivery of product, follow a batch through the system. Specific line information regarding connections, flexibility, and changes will be covered. Take away a better understanding of the Colonial system and the details involved in producing a schedule.

TARIFFS, TICKETS AND BILLING - What are the current tariffs? Why are tariffs changed? What are the components of tickets? How can I track my nominations? What is involved in Colonial's billing process? Learn why these questions and practices are such an important part of our business ... and yours.

QUALITY ASSURANCE - Testing of product from origin to delivery is Colonial's policy. The methods that determine the setting of new specifications and how governmental influences affect this aspect of our industry are covered.

OPERATIONS TOURS - Part of the hands-on experience of Colonial University is a visit to one of Colonial's tank farms as well as a tour of our control center. The tank farm tour will cover the delivery of product into tankage, the storage of product as well as the various equipment, pumps and operations that run 24 hours a day to supply product to local deliveries. The control center tour allows you a real-time overview of tracking product movement over the entire 5,500-plus miles of the Colonial system.

SIMULATION AND ADDITIONAL TRAINING - Colonial University is interactive with activities focusing on industry supply-chain logistics as well as nominations, tracking and delivery. This will help you learn industry-specific information as well as meet others within the pipeline industry. Hands-on training on Colonial's web-based interface, Transport4, and utilizing this resource to maximize your efficiency will be covered throughout the session. Common Carrier Requirements will be reviewed, focusing on pipeline regulations and information relay.
