                                                                                                  Meeting Customer Needs

Save the champagne. Colonial is christening its newest storage tank with up to 218,000 barrels of Ultra-Low Sulfur Diesel (ULSD).

The newest piece of the Colonial Pipeline system is located in Linden, N.J. where it becomes an integral part of Colonial’s assets serving the Northeast.

The new tank represents more than expansion, of which there has been plenty in 2011. The tank is a symbol of Colonial’s commitment to invest to meet the needs of its customers.

Large capital projects like these require close cooperation with customers, who see the need as more than a short-term phenomenon.

Colonial Pipeline has customers all along its 5,500 miles of pipeline. In the Gulf Coast, there are refineries expanding their output to serve markets across the county. Across the South and Eastern U.S., Colonial connects to communities and to customers at airports and military installations.

What results is the most efficient, reliable – and safest – method of meeting the energy needs of America.

In 2011, Colonial responded to an increasing demand for its services. Volumes that in recent years have averaged 2.3 million to 2.4 million barrels per day (BPD) are tracking closer to 2.5 million BPD. System-wide, that’s almost 105 million gallons of gasoline, jet fuel, home heating oil, diesel fuel and fuels for the U.S. military – delivered safely every day.

To meet customer needs, Colonial added 100,000 BPD of incremental capacity on the pipeline section that flows from Greensboro, N.C., to Linden, primarily serving the Philadelphia to New York market.

We are in the midst of a 75,000 BPD capacity expansion on the line that carries distillate products from Houston to Greensboro. About 20,000 BPD of that is already online, with the remainder to be ready in mid-2012.

Just as important as these steps to improve service are the investments Colonial makes to maintain the safety and integrity of the pipeline. Colonial’s top priority always will be to operate a safe pipeline, with the utmost regard for people’s safety and the utmost respect for the environment. That’s how Colonial will deliver to its customers the fuels Americans depend on every day.
