Vice President and General Counsel
Meredith Lackey was appointed Vice President and General Counsel of Colonial Pipeline Company, effective January 1, 2012. Ms. Lackey is responsible for ensuring the protection and enhancement of Colonial’s legal rights and corporate reputation through the leadership of the legal team.
Under her leadership, Colonial’s Legal Department builds and nurtures partnerships with the communities Colonial serves and the government agencies that regulate the pipeline industry.
In addition, Ms. Lackey is responsible for Colonial’s Compliance and Records Management.
Prior to joining Colonial in 2008, she worked for a large international mining company based in the Atlanta area. Initially hired as litigation counsel for all U.S. subsidiaries, she was subsequently promoted to Director of Human Resources for one of the company’s major U.S. divisions.
Prior to moving in-house in 2003, Lackey practiced as a general commercial litigator at two leading law firms, Jones Day and Baker Botts. She holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration from Louisiana State University and a J.D. degree from the University of Mississippi. She and her husband reside in Atlanta with their two daughters.
Colonial Pipeline operates the largest-volume refined liquid petroleum products pipeline in the world. Founded in 1962 and privately owned by a consortium of oil and petroleum companies, Colonial’s 5,500-plus miles of underground interstate pipeline transports gasoline, kerosene, home heating oil, diesel and national defense fuels from refineries along the Gulf Coast to markets throughout the South and East Coast.
