Colonial Terminal Logistics (CTL) Encourages Youth At Camp Seaport

PORT ARTHUR, Texas — Colonial Pipeline subsidiary, Colonial Terminal Logistics (CTL), participated in Camp Seaport, a locally sponsored one week summer camp for inner city high school freshman and sophomore students in Port Arthur, Texas.

Camp Seaport was developed primarily to give students an idea of job opportunities in the maritime industry early enough in their high school years so that they could develop a curriculum in high school towards obtaining an industry job after graduation, without requiring them to go to college.

The Port Arthur International Seafarer’s Center and the Port of Port Arthur are the two primary sponsors of the program, with local industry also contributing funding and expertise, as CTL did this year. CTL’s presentation focused on just one aspect of the industry, the commercial logistics required to move diesel fuel from a refinery onto a vessel for delivery to U.S. and foreign destinations. The description of the various aspects of the operation, along with the students’ observation of CTL facilities (including a vessel at the dock) gave them a view of the industry that they hadn’t previously been aware of.
