![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COLONIAL PIPELINE PLANS TO RESTORE PARTIAL SERVICE BY THIS WEEKEND August 30, 2005 Colonial Pipeline today announced the implementation of a plan designed to safely provide limited service on its pipeline system.
As a result of an uncertain return to service schedules for electrical transmission companies, Colonial is taking actions including placing distributed generation equipment at specific pipeline facilities and other operational options. These activities will allow Colonial to return both its gasoline and diesel lines to partial service by this weekend.
"We will continue to work closely with the electrical utilities as they work to restore power to so many communities across Louisiana and Mississippi," stated David Lemmon, President and CEO of Colonial. "In the interim, Colonial will be able to restart our pipeline and provide some level of service along our entire system, from Houston to New York Harbor."
Colonial will continue to add distributed generation capability during the power outages, and intends to increase the amount of service available to its customers.
"All of these interim measures are being put in place with public safety and environmental protection as our first priorities," said Lemmon. "It is our commitment to provide pipeline service safely. We will keep our communities and customers updated as we make progress implementing our plan" Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout South and the Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor. |
