![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COLONIAL CONTINUES SAFE OPERATIONS, MONITORS HURRICANE’S APPROACH September 22, 2005 Colonial Pipeline announced today that it was continuing to safely operate and deliver gasoline and other refined petroleum products from Gulf Coast refineries that were operating and not impacted by Hurricane Rita.
As the storm forces refineries to close, Colonial will maintain deliveries by turning to refineries east of the evacuated areas. Colonial continues to monitor the storm and take measures to ensure safe operations as the storm approaches the Gulf Coast.
Should the hurricane impact the region’s power supplies, Colonial is taking steps that would expedite the return of normal operations and service.
"We are in close communication with our customers and with the local utilities in an overall effort to minimize any impact that may come from Hurricane Rita," said David Lemmon, Colonial President and CEO. "We continue to keep the public safety and protecting the environment as our first priorities."
Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout the South and Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor. |
