![]() FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE COLONIAL SAFELY RESTARTS LINES FROM HOUSTON September 25, 2005 Colonial Pipeline announced today it is safely restarting its origin pipeline segments in Houston and Pasadena, Texas, and continues to have full operating capacity from Krotz Springs, La., eastward.
The initial restart will enable the pipeline system to achieve 42 percent of its normal, mainline operational capacity from Houston. Colonial plans to increase its capacity to 54 percent on Monday and 72 percent on Tuesday by the use of Drag Reducing Agent and portable sources of electricity to supplement commercial power.
The expedited return of commercial power could allow Colonial to return to full capacity even sooner. Colonial continues to deliver product from available inventories.
Colonial's assessment of its facilities following the landfall of Hurricane Rita found no significant damage. The restart was approved after a flyover of Colonial's pipeline and a visual inspection of facilities to ensure the system was safe to resume operations.
"We deeply appreciate the efforts of our employees, our shipping customers, law enforcement and power company crews. All of these helped Colonial return to delivering fuel as soon as it was safe to do so," said Dave Lemmon, Colonial President and CEO.
Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout the South and Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor. |
