COLONIAL REACHES 55 PERCENT OF OPERATING CAPACITY

September 26, 2005

Colonial Pipeline announced today it has reached 55 percent of normal operating capacities on its Houston-origin mainlines and is continuing efforts to return the pipeline to full capacity as Gulf Coast fuel supplies become available.

Colonial continues to deliver into all of its service markets with the help of refineries not impacted by the storm and from existing inventories.

To optimize delivery rates, Colonial began adding a Drag Reducing Agent to shipments from its Houston facilities. The company also is installing distributed generative power to replace commercial power at pump stations which lost power after the hurricane.

With the return of commercial power, Colonial should reach full operating capacity later this week.

Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout the South and Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor.
