POWER RESTORED, COLONIAL CAPABLE OF RUNNING AT FULL RATES

October 13, 2005

Colonial Pipeline announced today that commercial power has been restored to all Colonial facilities, allowing its gasoline and distillate mainlines to operate at full rates, subject to product availability.

The return of commercial power enabled Colonial to remove the portable, distributed power which had supplemented commercial power at some pump stations in Louisiana. Colonial's pipeline and facilities were undamaged by Hurricane Katrina and Hurricane Rita, but relied on the portable power to expedite its return to service.

Colonial Pipeline, headquartered in Alpharetta, Ga., delivers a daily average of 100 million gallons of gasoline, home heating oil, aviation fuel and other refined petroleum products to communities and businesses throughout the South and Eastern United States. Colonial consists of more than 5,500 miles of pipeline, originating at Houston, Texas, and terminating at the New York harbor.
