Melanie Little

President, Chief Executive Officer

Melanie Little is the President and Chief Executive Officer for Colonial Pipeline Company, the largest refined petroleum products pipeline system in the United States. She joined Colonial Pipeline in January 2023 with more than two decades of experience in the energy industry.

Prior to joining Colonial, Melanie served as the Chief Operating Officer at Magellan Midstream Partners, L.P., with responsibility for assets in 15 states, consisting of 12,000 miles of pipelines, 55 terminals and a team of over 1,400.  

Prior to being promoted to COO, Melanie served in various leadership roles at Magellan, with the opportunity to lead teams in operations, commercial and compliance. 

Prior to joining Magellan in 2004, she worked for The Williams Companies, Inc. Before joining Williams, she held project management positions in the areas of environmental remediation as a contractor for the Department of the Army. Melanie is a Veteran, serving in the U.S. Army and in the Army Reserves and Georgia National Guard.

Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Engineering from the United States Military Academy and a Master of Science in Civil Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology. She also serves on two non-profit boards: The Discovery Lab in Tulsa, OK and the International Liquid Terminals Association. 

Melanie will also be joining the Board of Directors of Cenovus Energy, the second-largest Canadian oil and natural gas producer, refiner and upgrader, in early 2023.

Angela Kolar

SVP, Operations Services & Chief Risk Officer

Angela Kolar is Colonial Pipeline’s Senior Vice President of Operations Services and Chief Risk Officer. Appointed to this role in June 2017, Angela oversees the company’s Enterprise Risk, Safety, Compliance, Asset Integrity, Technical Training, Project Management & Implementation, and Safety Management System functions.

In her previous role as Southeast District Director of Operations, she oversaw operations and maintenance across five states. In 2004, she joined Colonial as Senior Accountant and has since transitioned through various leadership positions including Director of Organizational Effectiveness, Director of Compliance, Operations Manager, and Business Manager. Prior to Colonial, she held positions with a public accounting firm and later with global pharmaceutical company, Pfizer Inc. 

In the industry, Angela is Past-President of the Greater Atlanta Chapter of Women’s Energy Network and currently serves on the American Petroleum Institute Pipeline Safety Excellence Sub-Committee. Angela is currently chair of the Pipeline Safety Management System (SMS) Industry Team.

Angela earned a Bachelor of Arts in Accounting from East Tennessee State University and a Master of Business Administration from Arkansas State University.

Clay Miller

SVP, Chief Financial Officer

Clay Miller is Colonial Pipeline’s Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer. Clay guides Colonial’s financial performance, supporting the Company’s commitment to safe, reliable operations as well as to profitable growth and disciplined cost management. He oversees the company’s Strategic Analysis, Treasury, Insurance, Budget and Forecasting, Accounting, Tax and Procurement teams. Clay previously served as Corporate Controller. 

Prior to joining Colonial in 2013, Clay worked in a variety of financial services roles in companies across several industries. He began his career in client service through public accounting before joining industry and assisting with a company’s public offering and subsequent strategic pursuits, which included a recapitalization and follow up acquisition and integration activity.

Clay holds both his Bachelor of Business Administration and Master of Accountancy from the University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business, as well as a Master of Business Administration from Emory University’s Goizueta Business School. He has been a member of various professional organizations throughout his career, and has served on the Association of Oil Pipe Lines’ Accounting Committee. He also is a Certified Public Accountant.

David Gray

SVP and General Counsel

David Gray is Senior Vice President and General Counsel for Colonial Pipeline Company. In his role, David leads Colonial’s legal functions, including the ongoing relationship with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other regulatory agencies. 

David has approximately 25 years of legal experience, mainly focused in the energy industry. Prior to joining Colonial in August 2019, he was Senior Vice President for the midstream business of EQT Corporation, one of the largest midstream providers in North America. In this position, he was responsible for business development, asset optimization and the rates and regulatory departments. Under his leadership, the midstream business experienced significant growth in a complex regulated environment. 

During his tenure at EQT, David also served as General Counsel for Equitable Gas Company and Assistant General Counsel for midstream and commercial. In those roles, he provided extensive legal oversight in various areas, including regulatory, commercial, corporate governance, litigation and environmental matters. Prior to EQT, he was Assistant General Counsel for FirstEnergy and Allegheny Energy, Inc., and he has more than ten years of experience in private law practice with several firms.

David is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.

Daniel Gordon

SVP, Chief Commercial Officer

Daniel Gordon is Vice President, Chief Commercial Officer. In his role, Gordon leads Colonial’s commercial affairs functions by maximizing opportunities to grow the company and position Colonial for long-term success.

Gordon brings approximately 20 years of commercial affairs experience to his new role at Colonial, all focused in the energy industry. Most recently, he was Executive Vice President, Business Development for Delek US Holdings, Inc. Under his leadership, Delek US successfully established market share in Mexico, and made several key acquisitions that expanded the business. Gordon served in other capacities at Delek where he was responsible for its crude acquisition strategy, trucking operations, hedging, and pricing for MAPCO convenience stores.

He began his career with RaceTrac Petroleum. There he served as Executive Director of Supply and Distribution, where he oversaw the distribution of more than two billion gallons of refined fuels and directed supply and trading, scheduling, commercial, and transportation. In this role, he also gained valuable insight into Colonial Pipeline as a shipper on the system.

Gordon is a graduate of the University of Florida where he earned his Bachelor of Science degree in Finance, and holds a Master of Business Administration from the Georgia Institute of Technology.

Darrell Riekena

Darrell Riekena

SVP, Chief Information Officer

Darrell Riekena is the Chief Information Officer for Colonial Pipeline Company. He leads the strategy and operations of information technology across the company, including Infrastructure, Applications & Systems, Solutions Delivery, Data & Analytics and Cybersecurity. Darrell is responsible for providing strategic and tactical technology planning and execution for Colonial’s core business, new business and technology projects, and process improvements. 

Previously, Darrell served as the CIO and executive vice president for Republic National Distributing Company (RNDC). At RNDC, he led technology transformation supporting company growth, which included mergers and acquisitions, and business process improvements. While serving at RNDC, Darrell was also nominated for Georgia CIO of the Year in 2018, 2019 and 2021. 

Darrell is a highly regarded CIO with extensive experience in IT leadership. He joined Colonial in June 2022, with more than 30 years of technology, industry and supply chain knowledge. Darrell has also held executive-level roles in technology and business operations with Target, The Kroger Company, LimitedBrands and JCPenney. 

Throughout Darrell’s career, his primary focus has been on transforming organizations through an evolution of strategy, operations, and implementation of technologies to enable growth, streamline operational and customer service levels, improve margins, and create new business channels. He has a proven track record of developing and delivering innovative, high-impact solutions, such as digital transformation, data, business intelligence and analytics, enterprise resource planning and technology modernization. 

Darrell holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Management Information Systems from the University of Wisconsin – Milwaukee, and he serves on a variety of industry and nonprofit boards.
