Company responds strategically, proactively and with health and safety as the top priority

ALPHARETTA, GA (March 24, 2020) –The safety and well-being of our employees is now, and always, at the center of what we do. We are dedicated to making sure our actions are consistent with Colonial’s values, and that we have the right policies and procedures in place to protect our employees, contractors, and community members.

Colonial remains committed to safely and reliably transporting our customers’ refined products to where they are needed. We are proud to do our part to support our nation during this critical time by transporting gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel and fuel for the U.S. military – on behalf of our shippers.

During this unprecedented time, our focus every day is to ensure the health and well-being of our employees and to continue the safe and reliable operation of our system,” said Joe Blount, Colonial President and Chief Executive Officer. The Colonial Team is pulling together as One Colonial’ to continue to provide a critical service during this unprecedented time. We are committed – now and every day – to delivering the refined energy products that fuel our nation, on behalf of our shippers, and continuing to keep our workforce and communities safe. We will continue to respond to this situation strategically, rapidly, and with health and safety as our top priority.”

Colonial has taken the following proactive steps in an effort to ensure the health and well-being of our employees and stakeholders – and to continue safe, reliable and efficient operations:

  • The company immediately established a cross-functional response team focused on business continuity, planning and execution. This includes ensuring the health and safety of our employees and contractors, maintaining the safe operation of our pipeline system, and developing prevention and action plans that allow us to respond proactively to this evolving situation.
  • Colonial is taking stringent measures to protect the health and wellness of our employees and has in place an exposure management plan. The company has implemented remote work schedules where needed, imposed travel restrictions, increased sanitation efforts at all locations, provided employees additional information regarding enhanced health and wellness benefits, and continues to remind employees to be vigilant about health care and potential exposure.
  • Colonial is taking proactive steps to ensure we continue to deliver our shippers’ product to the market in a safe, reliable and efficient manner. While market demand is softer than normal given this public health emergency, we are working closely with all shippers as they respond to current supply and demand factors. We remain committed to the critical service we provide – the transportation of refined products on behalf of our shippers.

Colonial extends our empathy to those who have been directly impacted by COVID-19, and we are grateful to the many healthcare professionals, first responders, grocery store employees, educators, government officials, and others who are leading efforts to safeguard and serve Americans during this time.
