Colonial Pipeline’s Joseph Blount Elected Chair of Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL)

ALPHARETTA, Ga. (March 7, 2022) – Colonial Pipeline’s President and CEO Joe Blount has been elected chair of the Association of Oil Pipe Lines (AOPL) Board of Directors for 2022. AOPL is the only trade association focused solely on the interests of liquid pipelines. AOPL advocates for responsible economic and commercial policies with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission, the Pipeline Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, and Congress.

Blount is a veteran leader in the energy industry with more than 40 years of experience in oil, gas, and midstream assets. As President and CEO of the largest refined products pipeline in the United States, Blount considers his participation at the AOPL board level an important act of service.

More than 50 pipeline companies and business units are members of AOPL. Member companies operate interstate and intrastate liquids transmission pipelines delivering crude oil, refined products and natural gas liquids. The AOPL Board overseas AOPL operations and sets industrywide strategy for regulatory, commercial and advocacy policies. Blount’s role as chair ends December 31, 2022. He is on his second term as an AOPL Board member.
