Acting as Trusted Partners includes serving as responsible stewards of the environment. That’s why we’re proud to support organizations like the Tennessee River Gorge Trust (TRGT), a group that shares our commitment to protecting the environment, conserving land, and building stronger communities.

Recently, members from our Chattanooga office, Southeast District Right of Way, Operations, and Environmental teams came together for a hands-on day of service at Williams Island, deep in the heart of the stunning Tennessee River Gorge. Despite the summer heat, our volunteers (as usual) were all in. They spent the day removing a deteriorated tent platform, constructing a new one built to last a decade, and even giving a fresh coat of paint to a privy!

This wasn’t just a workday – it was a chance to strengthen our partnership with TRGT and contribute to a place that’s both ecologically vital and deeply loved by the local community. Known as “Cash Canyon,” the Tennessee River Gorge is the fourth-largest river gorge in the eastern U.S., and TRGT has been its guardian for over 40 years – protecting more than 17,000 acres of land and expanding access to outdoor recreation.

TRGT is nationally recognized for its innovative conservation efforts, and we’re honored to stand beside them in their mission to preserve this natural treasure for generations to come.
