Early Career Development

At Colonial Pipeline, we prioritize investing in the professional development of our early career teammates. We offer several initiatives in this area, including our co-op program, Colonial EXPLORE, and internships to help foster growth for early talent. For those new to Colonial Pipeline or the industry, we encourage working cross-functionally and developing skills outside of your core area of expertise. Colonial Pipeline lends itself to all different skillsets and backgrounds, and we’re here to help you continue your learning journey.

Growth in the Energy Industry

Pipeline employment opportunities continue to increase, just as the demand for reliable energy resources does in the United States. The energy sector provides a great space for early career professionals to advance their professional development in a continuously growing industry that is vital to America’s national security and well-being. At Colonial Pipeline, we offer positions in every area of our business, with each playing a key role in helping us transport refined petroleum products across the country, safely and efficiently.

Colonial EXPLORE

In 2024, Colonial Pipeline introduced EXPLORE, a job rotation program for recent college graduates and individuals that are early in their career (i.e., 1-3 years). It is designed to provide junior talent with the opportunity to gain hands-on experience and insights across various departments within Colonial. Participants engage in year-long rotational assignments that span different facets of our company, allowing them to develop a well-rounded skill set and a comprehensive understanding of our business.

Co-Op Program Overview

A co-op position at Colonial Pipeline allows you to combine your classroom knowledge with meaningful, hands-on experience. We offer co-op pipeline employment opportunities across both corporate and field operations, designed to complement your formal education with work experience directly related to your academic major. As an integral part of the overall education experience, our co-op program allows you to take on increasing levels of responsibility with each rotation.

“Day one I showed up and didn’t know anything about tanks, but everyone I worked with was so supportive of me. Everyone’s willing to help out to achieve our goals.” -Kelly, Field Project Manager

“At Colonial, we’re given several different opportunities to grow personally and for career development. With those opportunities, I was able to go from a procurement administrative assistant to a coordinator in procurement, and then to a manager of process excellence.” -Terry, Manager Process Excellence
