Collaboration With First Responders A Priority For Colonial Pipeline

BEAUMONT, Texas & SPARTANBURG, S.C.
– Collaborating with local first responders along our pipeline system is a priority for Colonial Pipeline. Each year, the company coordinates equipment donations (i.e. fire trucks, water cannons, firefighting foam, etc.) to first responders to assist them in responding to emergencies.

The second major aspect of Colonial Pipeline’s collaboration is training. Colonial works with first responders to provide, sponsor and organize training sessions designed to enhance their emergency response capabilities. The relationship is important as we would work with local first responders should an emergency occur. It propels us toward our goal of making the communities we share our pipeline with safer.

Recently Colonial Pipeline sponsored eight firefighters who attended training at the Williams Fire & Hazard Industrial Fire School at two separate trainings in Beaumont, Texas and Spartanburg, S.C. Colonial has sponsored approximately 60 individuals since 2011. The course included two days of classroom instructional training on techniques and equipment to suppress large industrial fires and two days of fire field burn activities. Colonial sponsored firefighters from: Port Reading FD (Linden), Greensboro FD, Charlotte FD, Cobb County (Atlanta Junction), Thorofare FD (Woodbury), and Croft FD (Spartanburg) for this year’s training.

Based in Alpharetta, Ga., Colonial is a 5,500-mile pipeline system transporting gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, home heating oil and fuels for the U.S. military. The network of underground pipelines originates in Houston, Texas, and terminates at Linden, N.J., on the New York harbor. For more information, please visit
