Colonial-Buckeye Connection Benefits Pennsylvania And New York Markets

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Shipments are due to begin this month via a new connection between Colonial Pipeline and Buckeye Pipe Line that enables Gulf Coast refineries to supply eastern Pennsylvania and upstate New York via pipeline.

A connection between Colonial and Buckeye at Paulsboro, N.J., will allow Colonial barrels to transfer to Buckeye’s Paulsboro Pipeline and on to the Malvern and Macungie, Pennsylvania, terminals. From those terminals, Buckeye can supply markets in Pennsylvania and New York, including, Lancaster, Scranton and Harrisburg, Pa., as well as Buffalo, Rochester, Syracuse, Utica and other areas of upstate New York.

Tying together critical infrastructure like this is a great way to extend the safe, reliable and cost-efficient supply of fuel to additional parts of our country,” said Colonial CEO Tim Felt. We appreciate Buckeye working diligently to make this happen.”

We are pleased to be able to offer our shippers access to additional supply sources for their product requirements in eastern Pennsylvania and upstate New York, said Bob Malecky, President of Buckeye’s Domestic Pipelines and Terminals. We appreciate the cooperation of Colonial in the construction and operation of this important connection.”

This project consisted of connecting Colonial’s pipeline to Buckeye’s pipeline at the PBF Refinery in Paulsboro, where both pipelines were already present. This is the latest of a series of new Colonial connections, which include the Western Terminal in Yorktown, Va., and the Philadelphia-area Eagle Point Terminal.
