Colonial Pipeline Names David Gray Vice President and General Counsel

Gray brings approximately 25 years of legal expertise in complex regulatory environments to Colonial

ALPHARETTA, GA (August 15, 2019) – Colonial Pipeline today announced that David Gray has been named Vice President and General Counsel, effective August 26. In his new role, Gray will lead Colonial’s legal functions, including the ongoing relationship with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and other regulatory agencies.

Gray brings approximately 25 years of legal experience to his new role at Colonial, mostly focused in the energy industry. Most recently, he was Senior Vice President for the midstream business of EQT Corporation, one of the largest midstream providers in North America. In this position, Gray was responsible for business development, asset optimization and the rates and regulatory departments. Under his leadership, the midstream business experienced significant growth in a complex regulated environment. 

During his tenure at EQT, he also served as General Counsel for Equitable Gas Company and Assistant General Counsel for midstream and commercial. In those roles, he provided extensive legal oversight in various areas, including regulatory, commercial, corporate governance, litigation and environmental matters. Prior to EQT, Gray was Assistant General Counsel for FirstEnergy and Allegheny Energy, Inc., and he has more than ten years of experience in private law practice with several firms.

Gray is a graduate of the University of Pittsburgh where he earned his Bachelor of Arts degree in Economics, and holds a Juris Doctor from the University of Pittsburgh School of Law.
