ALPHARETTA, Ga.
(June 1, 2015) – Colonial Pipeline Company today announced the purchase of Shell Pipeline Company LP’s (Shell) interest in the Port Arthur Products Station and Shell Ex Facility, known as PAPS.

Shell will provide interim operating services while the parties work toward a safe and timely transition of operatorship of the terminal to Colonial.

The terminal, which today provides a gateway to the Colonial and Explorer pipelines for local refiners TOTAL and Valero, adds 3.2 million barrels of tankage to Colonial’s system, and offers the potential for Colonial to provide new services for refiners and shippers within the dynamic Texas Refining Complex.

We’re very excited about the opportunities this acquisition creates for our customers,” said Tim Felt, Colonial’s president and CEO. This large terminal facility is an excellent addition to our existing system.”

In addition to the facility’s current use, Colonial is evaluating business opportunities it believes will appeal to customers. Downstream sections of Colonial’s pipeline where capacity is currently constrained are not expected to be impacted.

Parties interested in pursuing business development opportunities with Colonial related to the PAPS facility, should contact Bill Sande at [email protected].

Based in Alpharetta, Ga., Colonial is a 5,500-mile pipeline system transporting gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, home heating oil and fuels for the U.S. military. The network of underground pipelines originates in Houston, Texas, and terminates at Linden, N.J., on the New York harbor. For more information, please visit www.colpipe.com.
