Colonial Responds To Release: Oxford, AL

ATLANTA, Ga. — Early this morning, Colonial Pipeline experienced the release of a small amount — less than 10 barrels- of diesel fuel from a pump station located at Oxford, Ala.

Colonial promptly shut down the line and reduced pressure on its nearby gasoline mainline while crews responded. The release has been contained at or near Colonial’s pump station and is being cleaned up at this time.

There were no injuries and traffic on Friendship Road in Oxford was rerouted to ensure public safety as well as the safety of crews responding to the incident. Preparations and repairs necessary to safely restart the pipeline are underway. The cause of the incident will be investigated.

Colonial wishes to thank the Oxford Fire and Police departments for their quick and effective response. Full cooperation with Fire and Police officials is the best way to ensure the safety of the public and responding crews during Colonial’s any event.

Colonial established a community assistance number, (800) 733‑6175, for residents with concerns or for those who are interested in more information.
