Tim Felt Named President & CEO Of Colonial Pipeline

Felt Succeeds Norm J. Szydlowski, Who Is Retiring

ALPHARETTA, Ga. — Tim Felt has been named president and chief executive officer of Colonial Pipeline Company, effective Jan. 18, 2009. 

Felt, an experienced and active executive within the pipeline industry, has been president and CEO of Tulsa-based Explorer Pipeline since 2000. He succeeds Norm J. Szydlowski, who is retiring as Colonial Pipeline’s top officer. 

In addition to leading Explorer, Felt is Vice Chairman of the Association of Oil Pipelines (AOPL) and serves on the American’s Petroleum Institute’s Pipeline Committee. He also is chairman of the Common Ground Alliance, an organization dedicated to preventing damage to all underground facilities, including pipelines.

Prior to Explorer, Felt was Vice President of Mobil Pipe Line Company from 1995 – 2000. During that time he served as a board member of five joint venture companies, including Colonial Pipeline. He also served as president of Wolverine Pipeline, Collins Pipeline and T&M Terminal Company. His Mobil career began in 1983 and covered various positions and responsibilities, primarily in engineering and operations. 

A native of upstate New York, Felt earned an engineering degree from the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and an MBA from Pepperdine University. He served seven years in the Army, reaching the rank of Captain. He and his wife, Patricia, have three children. 

Colonial, founded in 1962, delivers refined petroleum products such as gasoline, diesel fuel, jet fuel, home heating oil and fuels for the U.S. military, from refineries primarily in the Gulf Coast to customers and markets throughout the Southern and eastern United States.
